ABOUT JILL

Get Giddy with Gertie!

Jill created Granny Gertie after Hurricane Katrina. All the local theatres closed temporarily. Searching for a creative outlet and wanting to make the most of her son's childhood, Jill created Granny Gertie. Granny Gertie connects with the children in a fun, interactive way while relating life's lessons with a warm personal touch.

After receiving a BFA in Theater from University of Louisiana, Jill Lane, completed the classical actor training program of Gregory Abels' Training Ensemble (GATE) in New York City. Jill performed in the Eastern European Tour of The Trojan Women traveling to Warsaw, Prague, and several towns in the Czech Republic. Jill also performed in the National Theatre of the Performing Arts educational productions of Tartuffe and Inventors and Their Inventions.  Both national tours performed in schools all over the country.

Jill's theatrical experience spans 20 years.  Some of her favorite roles she performed in college and beyond include Puck in a Midsummer Night's Dream, Gravedigger #1 in Hamlet, Billie in Born Yesterday, Bella in Lost in Yonkers, and Suzanne in Dearly Departed.  Jill also taught Talented Theatre to 1st-6th Graders at Tchefuncte Middle School in Mandeville, LA.  Jill has six years experience doing bible sermons and stories to children ages 3-6.
